HEL1 is a Tier III facility near Helsinki peering at FICIX with Telia and Arelion as transit. Stockholm is about 20 ms away, Frankfurt 25 ms, so for a Nordic or Baltic audience it is the closest site, and for a European audience it is a fine second site with a very different power and climate profile from Frankfurt or Amsterdam.
The cool climate and a long-term renewable power contract are part of why the second hall is where we keep storage-heavy hardware: Storage VPS with 1 to 10 TB of RAID-10 HDD behind an NVMe cache, and dedicated servers including the 240 TB storage build. There are no GPU servers in Helsinki; the nearest GPU sites are Amsterdam and Frankfurt.

Helsinki questions, answered
Which products are available in Helsinki?
Standard, High-frequency and Storage VPS, all dedicated server families including the 240 TB storage server, and Windows RDP. GPU servers are not offered in Helsinki.
Why put storage in Helsinki?
Cheap renewable power and free cooling keep the running cost of disk-heavy hardware low, which is how the Storage VPS line keeps its prices. Snapshots are included and daily backups are optional.
Is Helsinki inside the EU?
Yes. Finland is an EU member state, so EU data-protection rules apply to data held in HEL1 in the same way as in Frankfurt or Amsterdam.
How is HEL1 connected?
Two 100 Gbps uplinks, FICIX peering and two transit carriers (Telia and Arelion). Latency to Frankfurt is about 25 ms and to New York about 110 ms.
